HIGHLAND PARK, IL (January 5, 2008) – Hotels looking to go “green” have typically been at a loss to find attractive recycling containers for their high profile areas.
According the Lori Tilkin, Principal of T2 Site Amenities, “hospitality distributors have not offered attractive recycling containers and manufacturers of aesthetic recycling containers have not targeted hospitality. T2 Site Amenities plans to bridge that gap by offering a wide array of upscale recycling solutions from an assortment of top manufacturers”
Hotel guests that recycle at home expect to recycle during their own stays. Moreover, surveys have shown that the majority of hotel guests will use recycling containers if given the option.
The demand for “green” hotels has extended well beyond consumers. In 2007, the EPA with a $50 million annual travel budget gave its procurement staff a list of questions to ask hotels bidding for the EPA business. This list included questions on recycling efforts.
The GSA with a $13.5 billion travel budget has decided to follow the EPA’s checklist. Hotels that do not offer recycling programs cannot bid on this substantial $13 billion travel business.
“Hotels are recognizing that adding recycling containers to lobbies, entrances and guest rooms makes both environmental and economic sense” stated Lori Tilkin.
